Notes (A blast from the past)

The man was looking mesmerized at the towering monster that just came out of the lake's calm waters, and for a moment froze. It was then when i turned and I could see him. Like every other human until now, stopped for a moment, looked at me and start to run back to his small village.

I am kind of bored with this exploring mission. But the primates just started to use rudimentary tools. I am thinking to help them evolve a bit by teaching how to start a fire.

I like to think that i saved the future intelligent life on this planet. Just as i teach them how to make fire, another ice age just started. Most of the giant mammals got extinct.

Humans are petty little creatures, thinking only at war and destruction. But there are few of them that make me hope that the end of the cycle will not come very soon. This Leonardo guy is bringing the art to a new level right now.

Hope

She was leaning forward, ready for a kiss. But he put a finger on her lips, whispering:
"Not now. Find me later"

Opening her eyes, Maria realized that she is still in her home, on her sofa. And then, her eyes could see the address card laying in the middle of the bowl, on her coffee table. It was not just a dream after all.

It was a black, metallic, little square of paper, with golden letters. Queen Industries, followed by an address." It was not a dream after all. Or i just fall asleep and wake up in the middle of a full Marvel nightmare movie." she was thinking.

With a quick move, she took the card and throw it into the recycle bin. All was good again.

One minute lecture - The Egg - by Andy Weir

You were on your way home when you died.
It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.
And that’s when you met me.
“What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?”
“You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.
“There was a… a truck and it was skidding…”
“Yup,” I said.
“I… I died?”
“Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said.
You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. “What is this place?” You asked. “Is this the afterlife?”
“More or less,” I said.
“Are you god?” You asked.
“Yup,” I replied. “I’m God.”
“My kids… my wife,” you said.
“What about them?”
“Will they be all right?”
“That’s what I like to see,” I said. “You just died and your main concern is for your family. That’s good stuff right there.”
You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didn’t look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.
“Don’t worry,” I said. “They’ll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didn’t have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If it’s any consolation, she’ll feel very guilty for feeling relieved.”
“Oh,” you said. “So what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?”
“Neither,” I said. “You’ll be reincarnated.”
“Ah,” you said. “So the Hindus were right,”
“All religions are right in their own way,” I said. “Walk with me.”
You followed along as we strode through the void. “Where are we going?”
“Nowhere in particular,” I said. “It’s just nice to walk while we talk.”
“So what’s the point, then?” You asked. “When I get reborn, I’ll just be a blank slate, right? A baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won’t matter.”
“Not so!” I said. “You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don’t remember them right now.”
I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. “Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly imagine. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. It’s like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it’s hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you’ve gained all the experiences it had.
“You’ve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven’t stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, you’d start remembering everything. But there’s no point to doing that between each life.”
“How many times have I been reincarnated, then?”
“Oh lots. Lots and lots. An in to lots of different lives.” I said. “This time around, you’ll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD.”
“Wait, what?” You stammered. “You’re sending me back in time?”
“Well, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I come from.”
“Where you come from?” You said.
“Oh sure,” I explained “I come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know you’ll want to know what it’s like there, but honestly you wouldn’t understand.”
“Oh,” you said, a little let down. “But wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point.”
“Sure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you don’t even know it’s happening.”
“So what’s the point of it all?”
“Seriously?” I asked. “Seriously? You’re asking me for the meaning of life? Isn’t that a little stereotypical?”
“Well it’s a reasonable question,” you persisted.
I looked you in the eye. “The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature.”
“You mean mankind? You want us to mature?”
“No, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect.”
“Just me? What about everyone else?”
“There is no one else,” I said. “In this universe, there’s just you and me.”
You stared blankly at me. “But all the people on earth…”
“All you. Different incarnations of you.”
“Wait. I’m everyone!?”
“Now you’re getting it,” I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.
“I’m every human being who ever lived?”
“Or who will ever live, yes.”
“I’m Abraham Lincoln?”
“And you’re John Wilkes Booth, too,” I added.
“I’m Hitler?” You said, appalled.
“And you’re the millions he killed.”
“I’m Jesus?”
“And you’re everyone who followed him.”
You fell silent.
“Every time you victimized someone,” I said, “you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you’ve done, you’ve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.”
You thought for a long time.
“Why?” You asked me. “Why do all this?”
“Because someday, you will become like me. Because that’s what you are. You’re one of my kind. You’re my child.”
“Whoa,” you said, incredulous. “You mean I’m a god?”
“No. Not yet. You’re a fetus. You’re still growing. Once you’ve lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born.”
“So the whole universe,” you said, “it’s just…”
“An egg.” I answered. “Now it’s time for you to move on to your next life.”
And I sent you on your way.

Until the end of Time

She was mysterious and beautiful, in some secret way. Everybody noticed her, and it was a wonder how she  was not a model or Miss World kind of celebrity. This were my thoughts, until i realized that a very powerful compulsion was working to make me forget her, as soon as i was leaving that tiny town.
- What kind of witch are you, i asked her as soon as i came back.
- I am not the kind of witch you were thinking, At least i was not called that name in the last three centuries, she said smiling. I am just a humble shopkeeper, taking care of the local attraction. Nothing more.
-You are  saying that, and yet, i never met someone with such a mastery in palmistry and tarot reading.

Now i was curious. I always wanted to visit the cave promoted by the local museum, right under her shop, but somehow i never found time to do it. It was open only in the weekend, for a couple of hours, and, even if i was coming regularly to this little town, to do my checks on my car at the local car dealers, it was happening during the week. So one day i came especially for this. She was the guide, explaining to me that nobody really knows about the origins of the cave, and some presume that is has to do with the Templar's Abbey, while others think that an ancient christian monk use to live there. Hence the crosses and the sculpture of St. Katherine from the cave's wall.

I studied it with interest, noticing the similarities with the Egyptian and Linear B alphabets. I found and read the legend of St Katherine. The story said that she was a beautiful scholar, wisest beyond imagination, and that in becoming a Christian, the roman emperor tried to persuade her to become his wise and he even gathered 50 of the most well-known philosophers, priests and sages, to convince her to renounce at her beliefs. In the end, she managed to convince all of them 50 to become Christians. They were instantly killed by the emperor, and she was condemned to death. They wanted to use a spiked wheel, but she just touched the wheel and it shattered into dust. She was then beheaded, and the angels carried her body away. The researcher Donald Attwater said about this history that it is a lie, existing only in the mind of some Greek writer, and invention meant to provide a counterpart to the story of the pagan philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria (350-415 A.D.)

As i was not doing any of my projects, i rented a flat and stayed in Royston for the summer. Often we were awake until late at night, talking about ancient civilizations. She was very knowledgeable, and i was happy to meet someone to exchange ideas about few of my theories. We developed some complicit relation, talking with our eyes only or having our own jokes. My own awareness spiked and reached a new level, letting me to go deeper in the meditation process. In the morning i would do my training, in the evening i will talk with her, and weeks passing by, we became close and caring for each other. Until that night, when everything changed.

I took her hand, and walked inside, when she suddenly turned back and kissed me. Being a gentleman, i returned the kiss, and just few minutes later we embraced wildly in the unknown dance of two becoming one. After that, night after night, one unbreakable bond will bring us together, to reach the most exquisite nuances of love. But every time she was there, in the bed, at sunset, just her naked body and a scarf around her neck. Which make me wonder, what was she hiding?

Next evening i asked her, and she winked at me with one of her questionable looks. Then, she slowly undress herself, scarf included. A scar marked her neck, all around. A bit surprised, i asked:
- Do not tell me, you are St Katherine? Who are you? What are you?
-I am Queen Behenu, former wife of the Pharaoh Pepi the Second, mistress of the Arts, immortal. Also named Hatshepsut, St. Katherine, Hypatia of Alexandria, Agnes Samson, Marie Laveau and few other names.
-Are you a Christian?
-I am a healer, and Christian religion was an easy way to pretend that it is not me, but the Divine will. In some way, it is true. No tell me, who are you? I have seen that my forgetfulness spell seems to not affect you. And your knowledge is not far behind mine.

Now i was laughing. She got me.
- I am Vlad the Stormcloudrider, Master of the Scholomance, Initiate in the all 64 internal kung-fu styles of the East, also immortal. And all this time i was thinking that i am the only one. I am glad that i found out now, two days before i need to go. Now indulge me one curiosity, out of the whole world, why are you living here?
-Think about it, she said.
I understood.
-It is the cave, right?
-Yes, it is indeed. It is constructed on the exact point where two major ley lanes meet, the Michael and the Mary ley lane. It helps me to use some self-sustaining spells. Like the forgetfulness one, for example.

The time was flying now, And there i was, saying good-bye.
-I will come back as soon as i finish my business, i said.
-You gonna find me here. I'll wait.

Maybe was fate, or destiny, or some celestial joke. But i am happy now, and my life makes some sense. In the end.

Yin and Yang

When we are full (of ideas, of thoughts, of ourselves), life become complicated. When we are empty, when it is only the void, and no trace of us, miracles start to happen. I was always thinking about this. How come and how often i saw it. It is some magic behind this, if not a bit of righteous psychology. And even more, this can be a kind of life attitude, being open to any kind of challenge and events. In the end, we are richer and more experienced than when we started. You should try it some time!

Suggestion

Yesterday, The Dark One whispered in my ear:
"You are not strong enough to withstand the storm!"
Today I just smiled and I answered back:
"I am the storm!"

You have been weighted!

Motto: "He who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything. "
- Thomas Carlyle -

He was sitting on the bridge, looking at the fast river underneath. "If I want to jump, i can do it so easily, and nobody will be fast enough to stop me", he was thinking. Not at his best, as another one of his start-ups failed, after one apparently short success. First two months were good enough, with a 1800% return per investment, but after that everything was running dry. He was almost ready to change his lifestyle, he could see himself financially independent, with a nice house, with a decent passive income, ready to never work again. And sudden, like a house of cards, everything crumbled. He did a decent profit, but, at first, he had seen this as a failure. And in that same moment, when a lightning lightened the entire sky, this whole new concept hit him. He got profit, even if  only for two months. This was an success, and this time, like in the last three times, he gain some money, and made it work for 60 days. The one before that took 8 months just to start, and then barely made it on equal terms. He is getting closer. With every new try, he is getting closer and closer. One of this days, he gonna do it. He turned around, went back home, sat at the table, notebook and pen nearby, and start to write another 10 ideas for today. And another 10 ideas for tomorrow. He will never stop.

Eternal choices

I spread my wings and I fly over the city. I am ready to fulfill one desire, made by the first person I will meet. This planet is a bit troublesome, but I am one of the Ancient Gods, almost Almighty, close to perfection. I am safe. I take the appearance of one of them, and I start to walk though the city. They are all busy, running like ants between different goals and schedule, forgetting about their potential to be unlimited beings. One poor dressed guy stops me and beg for a dollar. I ask him intently if this is everything he is needing right now. He is adamant. "One dollar is all I need, brother, God bless!". I give him the note and he leave me with a smile on his face. Maybe it is still hope on this planet. I will stay a bit more.

Once in a blue moon (short story)

Motto: The real alchemist is the one who change the heavy lead of the desire and the quicksilver of the mind in the gold of wisdom, using the purifying fire of Love. (Ioan Gyuri Pascu)

She just learned about this technique at the psychology class she went today. Every time when you have a problem to solve, and it is very difficult for you, find a new way to act in that direction every day, in a small or in a big way. Communication was her problem. She was shy and she could not talk to any person she did not know, sometimes was hard to do it even with a person she knew very well. So today's challenge was to speak with a stranger. Easy to say, but hard to do it. And her chance there, in the lunch break, in the park near her workplace, when a young man sat down on the same bench where she was sitting eating her lunch. They started to talk, and she felt him very interested, listening carefully every one of her words. They talked about so many things, and the 30 minutes break passed in a heartbeat. She left the park happy, feeling that something inside of her changed. And, funny enough, if she would look back once more, she would see the young man smiling and fading away, disappearing out of thin air, leaving behind only one white feather falling slowly from his majestic wings.

Me, myself and I (short story)

"May the Holy Archangel Michael be on my right..." , the invocation started. I was saying it three times, as usual, when I become aware of my heartbeat.
"Boom! Boom!"
I continued with an evocation of my guardian angel, saying in my mind a prayer that i learned in my childhood.
"Boom! Boom!"
My field of perception and awareness increased, and now encompassed the whole park. I could feel the life pulsing through the trees around me.
"Boom! Boom!"
Then i reached for a very well known consciousness, my dear friend, angel of an entire solar system.
"Boom! Boom!" My heart was beating, and now i was already feeling the whole town, the whole island, the planet Earth, the Solar System.
"Boom! Boom!" To my surprise i did not stop here. I was perceiving the whole Milky Way, the Universe, the tens of thousand of universes, the Infinity.
"Boom! Boom!" I was expanded into everything, and my heartbeat was like and anchor, maintaining my individual self immersed in one interminable ocean of awareness.
"Boom! Boom!" And i was into my heartbeat, becoming smaller and smaller. Until I become a single point of Light, so small than even atoms were as big as entire universes.
"Boom! Boom!" And then my perception somehow dissociate. I was in the same time Everything and Nothing. I was expanded into infinity and contracted into nothingness. In the same time, as a choice of words, because time stopped. In the same space, but space was not there. I try to explain it, but it cannot be. Is much deeper than the words.
"Boom! Boom!" There I was, and I wasn't. I could feel myriads of beings across all of the universes, and tiny sparks of light appearing cyclically on subatomic level. Unity. Unification. Bliss.
"Boom! Boom!" The rain drops on my hoodie. Me, crystallizing as  individual being, manifesting as real in a daily world. But a part of myself remained always there, in the immensity of the Unknown. For ever.

The Book of Fate

The apprentice started the long journey of mastering the ancient magic 7 years ago. And today was the final test. He did not expected to be easy. He spent the last years mastering the subtle energies of Earth, Water, Fire and Air. He was feeling prepared.
-Step inside the circle, the old man said.
He stepped inside the magical circle, and suddenly felt stripped of all his power.
-Not tell me, after all you had learn, are you ready for the final change?
-Yes, Master!
-Then I have bad news. The Book of Fate is not changed, You need to train for another seven years in order to master the Void.
The Void. The mystical force behind any other force. It was totally worth it.
