Time as an essence.

There is a moment when i realize that i need to slow down, as i think about my last week, gone in a blur, and i just vaguely remember 2 hours of yoga and 1-2 games of LoL. Rest of the time, i just slept or worked. I was not feeling creative or rest properly, 5-6 hours of sleep stolen to the night. Something needs to be done. I am too busy, but i am not productive. Maybe i need to see what i need to stop doing, and how to improve my free time. There will be always worries, things to be done or money to be spent. And, in between those moments. the life is gone.

I will reclaim my free time. Starting from tomorrow. I need my happiness. I need my quality daily experience. I will stop being a shadow of myself, a mere automaton finding reasons to keep going. This should be my manifesto. But i am so busy tomorrow. What should i do? What should i do?

Fast or slow?

"Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace."
- May Sarton -

We are living in a century proclaiming speed as a modern god. Fast food, fast cars, fast choice, but speeding through life will not make us to lose some of its quality? I remember when Bruce lee was training with a friend, and seems to be ten times faster then him, and he told him, what you need is not to be faster than me, but slower. Slow your rhythm until you are comfortable with it and you will improve. We need to cultivate the contrary, to have the right attitude, to act like we have all the time in the world. And to do this while we are aware that we are not immortals, we have only one life and we can leave this place in any moment. What a contradiction to solve! Good luck with that.

"The good man is the friend of all living things."
 -Gandhi-

Being kind have numerous benefits, and changing your time perception is one on them. When you are kind, when you think about others instead of only yourself, then all that rush will disappear, and the silence will prevail. Under the waves of the dangerous sea of thoughts, there is a place where is quiet enough, but you need to reach that place. Try it! At least once. (Any mindfulness technique aim to take you there.).

Quote of the day

"For time is the longest distance between two places."
(Tennessee Williams)

I am relating so much with this verse. I understand it. And i relate it to happiness. I was walking by my childhood place, the familiar surrounding where i grow up. It changed so much, and it didn't. I can still see the remnants of my happy childhood, the signs known only by myself. I have some memories related to every inch of that place. And could be the total opposite of what T.Williams said, but it is also the same. It is the same place, unchanged. But it is different now to me, because i changed. The place i grow up, and the place that i am walking through it right now it is not the same, because of the time that passed by. I changed, even if the place stayed unchanged. It is the time that is the longest distance between my childhood and my "now" time. Uncanny, and i cannot stop wondering about it.

Who want to have all the time in the world?

The ancients said that the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now. What we learn from this? Let's say that we always dreamed to be free, to have all the money we need, and to have time to spend with friends, family and loved ones, or just to do whatever drives us, to follow the passion in our life. We need to go to work, you will say, we need to get our wages! What if it is a way for all this? What if...

The moon, still unseen in the afternoon.

She looked amazed at the car frozen at less than 5 inches of her. She looked around at all the people that did not move, remained twisted in some strange positions. The time stopped. Everything around her froze and even the sparrows were floating, surreal.

The shock was so great, and she remembered everything. So many lives she practiced magic. So many lives just trying to pursue some personal gain. Failing so many times. And starting all over again. Man or woman, reaching unbelievable powers for those who didn’t know the delicate mechanism of our existence. And the end, always surprising, bringing her once again at the eternal beginning. This time she chooses to forget everything, to be reborn in that little town.  To live an ordinary life, far away of all that may tempt her. And she almost succeeded, if not for this stupid car crash. She was seeing the car coming fast toward her, without being able to avoid the impact. And then something improbable happens.

She tried to remember everything and a little detail startled her. Across the street a little girl with curly hair was smiling, and in her hand a paper ratchet was whirring, in contrast with the whole frozen world. The girl whispered to her, barely audible:

- Kali*…it’s me!

*Kali = Goddess from Indian pantheon that symbolizes Time
