Spirituality and happiness

Apparently there is a link between spirituality and happiness. According to a research done by Myers in 2000, spiritually oriented people report higher levels of happiness, also according to a research made by Smith & co in 2003, spiritually oriented people report significantly less depression. There is a theory believing that the core of any real spiritual practice is the feeling of awe.

Scientist revealed that a brief experience of awe (10-60 seconds) will boost happiness, increase intellectual curiosity, deepen our sense of modesty and humility, lower cytokines levels(very important step in achieving a perfect immune system), change the perception of time (making us to feel that we have more time to grow). On an more earthly level, awe will make us to feel less entitled, less self-important, to need less money to spend and to become more altruistic. In a study made by Frances Kuo, awe is related to crime drops, better discipline for children, especially girls, lowered ADHD reactions for children, greater trust for neighbors in community.

Just to define it, Awe is the feeling of being in the presence of something vast and greater than self, that exceeds current knowledge structures.

Ideally, you can cultivate awe by going in nature, especially on high peaks or ancient forests, gigantic waterfalls, but you can also experience it in urban settings too, being at the top floor of a skyscraper, for example. If you cannot do this, as last resort, it is good to watch at least 5 minutes of awe inspiring videos once a week.

Who am i ?

The mightiest of the gods come over me,
His trident sliced my own time,
Leaving me only that tiny moment called present,
Hidden between past and future.
Blue was the half moon in his hair,
And my heart suddenly remember
That I am Him, and He is me.
I'm home again.

Aurus (epic fantasy)

I was in center of London, when i could see a jewelry shop. I entered inside, because i found my necklace broken one week ago. Inside it was an old man, and he looked familiar to me. I asked if he think that he can repair my necklace. He smiled.
-'Thoughts are free and are subject to no rule. On them rests the freedom of man, and they tower above the light of nature.' But what i think is not your problem here. It's what i can do. And yes, i can repair your jewel. Wait five minutes.
I sit down and i took a look around. Nice paintings on the wall, all with alchemic theme. It was like i just blink and the jeweler was back.
   - Fifteen pounds, he told me.
I paid and i left the shop. But the really strange thing was few days later, when i finished my book about Ho'oponopono and i took another. 'Secrets of the nature' by Paracelsus. And from the first page the familiar face of the jeweler smiled back to me.
A brand new day begin for me. And i am happy. Because i know that the philosophical stone, the one who give us immortality, is real. And all old legends are true.

The breeze

Long long time ago, maybe in another life, I was walking on the streets of Cairo. It was a hot summer afternoon, and everything was still, no wind, nothing moving around. But all at once, I started to feel a refreshing soft breeze. I was looking around and to my surprise, I've seen an young man, and behind him a wonderful angel, his wings moving softly.
Later I ask my teacher why an angel spent his precious time just to take care to not be hot around that person. My master said:
- You know, an angelic gift, no matter how small, come when is needed the most.
