Autumn is coming

Motto:
“There is no better time than the autumn to begin forgetting the things that trouble us, allowing them to fall away like dried leaves. There is no better time to dance again, to make the most of every crumb of sunlight and warm body and soul with its rays before it falls asleep and becomes only a dim light bulb in the skies.”
Coelho - Adultery

What we will talk today. I have some ideas

* I will start with good news. If you ever heard me rambling about off the grid houses and other stuff like this, here is something that will make to think about. They made a battery that it is working on air. Of course, it is not only air, as it is based on a reaction of oxidation of a Zinc element, which is interchangeable. And it is providing only enough energy for charging your phone tens of times, or to have a light bulb working for a bit more than a week. But it is a start. More about this on this link.
**If i am talking about houses and energy independence, you can check here for some interesting free plans. Choose one and you will save at least 6-800 dollars for not paying for the planning and project.
***We got Edward Thorndike and his Kansas Experiment, where people where asked how much money they would ask for some pain related experiences as pulling a front tooth, eating a 10 cm worm, killing a cat with bare hands, moving to a Kansas farm for the rest of their life and few more. The results were surprising as more money were asked for moving to Kansas - around 200k, and eating a worm - around 100k, than pulling a front tooth - around 4.5k. But this make some thinking that for every painful experience we can allocate a definite amount of money. And one step too far was Phillip Morris study in Czech Republic about the benefits of smoking. Yes, you really read this right, the benefits of smoking for the Czech government. They said that the main disadvantage it is in the increased cost in care, but than, many other benefits must be underlined, as healthcare savings from early dead of the smokers, pension savings and also less money for housing care. It is good to smoke, you die early and the state will save because of that. What a sad application of the old principle of Jeremy Bentham's Utilitarianism. Of course they realized when the media start to write about that was a mistake and they said they are sorry. A far cry of Ford Pinto case.

And that it's all for today, i hope you will enjoy the lecture and ask yourself, why and when we need ethics?

See you soon,
G.

Warka water tower

Warka Water tower is a very interesting water harvesting invention.
The Warka’s water harvesting technique and construction system are inspired by several sources. Many plants and animals have developed unique micro- and nano-scale structural features on their surfaces that enable them to collect water from the air and survive in hostile environments. By studying the Namib beetle’s shell, lotus flower leaves, spider web threads and the integrated fog collection system in cactus, we are identifying specific materials and coatings that can enhance dew condensation and water flow and storage capabilities of the mesh. The termite hives have influenced the design of Warka’s outer shell, its airflow, shape and geometry. We also looked at local cultures and vernacular architecture, incorporating traditional Ethiopian basket-weaving techniques in Warka’s design.

Just check it here, it is amazing. I wonder if can be somehow adapted to the UK weather. http://www.warkawater.org/design

Gotu Kola, Charles Poliquin and what i need to learn for my off-grid villa

I know, i know, i said that i will check the research about why we stop being in love. But on my "How to become a genius bigger than Da Vinci" i just learn about some amazing things, backed by solid research, that will dramatically improve the life for some of us.
Let's see the new information, one by one.

1. Gotu Kola is a very efficient remedy for stretching marks, but you need to know how it is working. 2 grams x 3 times per day is the best dose, use it for at least 5-6 months to work, one year will be ideal. Apparently nothing will happen for the first 5-6 months, but when the saturation dose will be reached you will see how all the extra layers of skin will magically disappear. Also in some countries you can find a Gotu Kola cream, skin absorption could help you to have faster results.

2. Fish oil in doses like 60 g daily intake can help with obesity, giving amazing results over time. In other words, 400g of Omega3 weekly will work too, if you want to make it easier. You lost too much fat and got stretching marks ? See number 1 for how to treat them with Gotu Kola.

3. If you want to successfully train and achieve the perfect body, maybe will be useful for you to do the Braverman test ( link here ).

4. Another trick to improve your fat loss here , Charles Poliquin website is an incredible resourse to use if you ever think about improving your physique.

And jumping from one interest to another, as i got a reference about the book of Robert Persig - Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, even only to learn how to be happy when you do not know something and to not see it as a failure but as an opportunity to learn something new.
I just find that, in order to build my dream house, i need to learn about insulation and energy saving, solar thermal, biomass, solar electricity generation, wind turbine, ground and air source heat pumps and many other renewable technologies. And we will not even talk about the tools and the equipment needed. So i am very happy and looking forward to find more about all this.
