"Justice is Truth in action."
(Benjamin Disraeli)
Let's talk a bit about the Navajo notion of justice. Their word for "law" is beehaz-aanii. It means source of healthy meaningful life. It is their equivalent to the Sanskrit sahrdaya सहृदय. It is what we sometimes call Soul, the real me, the spark from God's Fire. The Navajo goal is restorative justice, because where there is hurt, healing must come. But not ordinary healing, this must come from the deepest corner of our heart, must be light in action. Different than what we know about justice, isn't it?
